Elsa Majimbo-South Africans supported and defended me

Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo has vowed never to return to Kenya after ‘finding happiness abroad.’

“I have faced a lot of bullying in Nairobi and when I say bullying people only think about the internet, but it has been my whole life. At the university, I chose my friends and the company I was in and it got easier,” Speaking on #ABTalks, a YouTube interview show by Anas Bukhash, Elsa Majimbo who is currently in Dubai accused Kenyans of bullying her since her high school days. For the past few months, the 19-year-old has been traveling around the world with her manager and some family members.

She added: “But when I got to the internet it became as worse as it was in high school. I would mind my own business and sit inside the house in Nairobi. When I left for South Africa in February, I left and never went back to Kenya.” Majimbo says she was forced to drop out of Strathmore University, where she was studying journalism due to bullying,

“I found happiness outside (of Kenya). I don’t know where I am going and yesterday my sister suggested traveling back to Nairobi to which I declined. It is the worst option possible. I will go back to South Africa where I know I have a home. South Africans supported and defended me from Kenyan bullies. Kenya is not that place (to call home). It is tough but life is tough,” she told Bukhash.

“It does hurt. It really hurts. Negativity has a way of overshadowing the good. It’s not the bullying that hurt me most, it was the pity. People asking whether I was okay or was about to hurt myself. I don’t want to pity myself because I want to be in a peaceful space. I am a tough girl and I will stand strong. I need to have a thick skin as I know that I will face a lot of criticism,” she added.

Majimbo rose to fame last year after her comical videos went viral on social media following a nationwide lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

She has since been featured on international media platforms such by  CNN, BBC, The Guardian, New York Times, Forbes, among others.

She won the prestigious E! People’s Choice Awards in the African Social Star category in November 2020,  she also became a Fenty beauty ambassador, partnered with MAC, and appeared on Comedy Central.

Guide to Facebook Business

How to sell on  Facebook

Be  it in the group, page , your profile or using the Facebook Market place, if you read this to the end I promise you that it would not be a waste of your time.

"We are a Legacy machine working in a very different environment and we are designed for it" - Simon Sinek at Inside Quest Show,  Legendado.

Weeks ago I was with one of my friends, Engr. Dominion a Civil Engineer who knows how to think out of the box. Somehow he was having a little issue with his phone that he uninstalled the Opera mini app in his phone, so he requested that I share Opera mini app to him via Xender, without looking at him I replied "I do not use Opera mini", he was quiet. Meanwhile the first day that I met him (?), he asked me if he could use my phone to call someone and I said "my phone is off, I just came here to power it".

Considering how I turned him down that first day (as a sales person, first impression matters a lot to me), I turned to him and said "why not use chrome, every phone comes with Google Chrome, more over  is owned by Google so is more faster and what ever you search on Opera mini is more likely to still come and open in Google". He then took his time to explain why he wanted Opera mini of which was not very clear to me, but one thing that I was able to pin down after asking him a few questions was the fact that he need to search the in internet incognito mode, (to be sincere some dirty things entered my brain, but I just meet this guy for the first time here and I don't know his personality) I have to explain to him how Chrome can do just the same thing he want and even more.

He found it difficult to believe that Chrome have incognito mode, but that was not the issue, (the issue is that he doesn't understand how a small boy like me know all these things, I poured my heart out to explain Chrome for him) at that point I introduced myself, "am actually in a business that runs with the internet, my office use to be beside this very one, (as I point to the next office) the present occupant of that place know me", he by then got curious to know what I do, so in answering him I said "I run a small printing press, but we don't just print, what we actually do is to help people brand there business, that includes design and printing of product labels, package kits, creation of online awareness which includes social media page, web sites, add campaign etc", at that point his eyes was wide open, I actually talked a whole lot more than I wrote here ( I actually writes most of my articles before they get typed and posted), I know that he needed more help, but what I do not know was that he have already bought me before I even thought of selling to him.

We ended up becoming acquaintance and exchanging contacts with him , he took my advice and tried out Chrome. Why do I have to suffer you to read this long story, that was because that was my first day of having a real talk with him and he booked us to design a website for him, in his words " I would have buy you a drink but I do not come out here with money, you explained this website thing for me so well, more than others".

The story above is my personal experience in sales, but every online sales is a different kettle of fish, you may have been told that if go for a sales course you can sale online but I agree with everything that they say, but the problem here that at the point of sales that Facebook is the one interacting with your potential client and not you.

This is what you should do;

1. If you haven't learned anything on leadership, this is the right time to do that, why? in online sales (except if you are running a live sales campaign(?)) you need leadership skills to be successful. Is that skill that will help you to understand cumulative outcome of small efforts, it teach you  to take the time to understand how Facebook feels,  "We are a Legacy machine working in a very different environment and we are designed for it" - Simon Sinek , let me give you a little tip Facebook will likely feel sad when you upload too many products (more than 5) at the same time. Facebook is like that your staff that interacts with your customer every day.

2. Create a page ,group or market place shop and post quality contents there, stop trying to use the community created by others to sale except if you are ready to study them, instead of trying to sale there post contents related to what you want to sale, for instance if you like me sales wrist watch post stuffs like how to differentiate an original Rolex from the feck , tell us about the history of watch, carry gist of the celebrities that wears watch etc. I would advise that you can redirect your audience to your page or group were you now display what you sale is more like real estate agents that advertise for people to attain a free workshop in how to invest and at the event tell clients about all their properties.

3. You have to be a real leader with the Midas torch. If you have attended one of those sales class that I talked about earlier they would be of good help to you if you attended a good business class. My point here is that you need have solving peoples problem as your priority. Don't try to con people into buying, and try to deliver your promise- which is what you advertised.

4. Make good impression, for instance don't post the picture of a Nike sneakers and still have your Virtual Assistant design "Nike sneakers" boldly written on the picture, instead have the available size there, some use to have the price there (I have also tried that) , I would advise that depending on your target market don't post the price especially if you are selling in Nigeria, just let the client ask for the price, that way you know who is interested especially when you have the product in your shop you may have to reduce the price to make the first sale and establish the contact and u though I don't do that but I did it then, but don't ever sale anything on credit except if you can afford a bad debt .
Am sorry I have to stop here.
Thank you for reading to the end, please indicate if you would have loved for me to explain more, we look forward to update this post.
